The role of the Venezuelan asset and his family were somewhat contrived, but overall this was a good book. Each of the characters have their quirks, hang ups and well-defined personalities that make them seem all the more real to me. They pack in some great anecdotes, masses of names, titles, facts and figures and rarely seen imagery from lovely crumbling antiquities to obscure small press gems. You know what I am talking about: teenagers. I was a member of the California Wing of the Civil Air Patrol (1969-1976) and am very familiar with many of the crashes listed in his first book. The result is a delightful, entertaining read with substance.
